2.26.22

**Forms misprint clarification** Sorry for this mistake but on our forms it has a “fundraising opt out” As we mentioned in the meeting it is supposed to state “volunteer opt out” . We rely heavily on donations to keep our program going and appreciate the continued support by soliciting poster donations to support and grow this lacrosse program in our community!

2.14.22

Mandatory Player and Parent Meeting

We will have a player and parent meeting Wednesday, February 23rd at 6:30 PM. This will be in the library at RHS. This will be the time to meet the board, meet coaches, sign up for volunteer opportunities, learn about fundraising requirements and finalize registration.

If you have not registered yet please remember to read through the checklist thoroughly! All players must be registered with US Lacrosse each year. Memberships are good for one year.

All players are required to participate in the poster fundraiser. This fundraiser is essential for us to pay for busses, referees, fees, etc…

Families are needed for volunteer opportunities. There is a $100 opt out fee in registration if you are not willing to volunteer this season. Please remember many hands make light work. It takes a lot of us to make this season successful for our players.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us. Board and coach contact information is on our website.

11.14.21 – FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION

Every Kids Sports Pass –

Every Kids Sports Pass is an opportunity to have up to $150.00 of your sports fees paid for if you qualify. Students that recieve WIC, SNAP or Medicaid qualify. If your player has received the Oregon SNAP benefits card you should be able to apply. You do need to upload documentation. Parents are required to pay $10.00 if you receive the scholarship.

The funds are now distributed directly to the parents in the form of a digital debit card. This gives the family full autonomy on what league/team/sport their child wishes to be a part of. With the funds being in this form it also means that league/team that they sign up with will need to be able to process a debit card and be able to process split payments.

Families should look over the FAQ page and watch the video below on how the application process now works. Although the FAQ page is lengthy, it is comprehensive in its information.

FAQ: https://everykidsports.org/every-kid-sports-pass/faq/
How-To Video Guide: https://youtu.be/PXwGUUhiut8

Lastly, if you ever have parents who have questions about their application status or about the application process please have them reach out directly to us at pass@everykidsports.org. It may take us 3-4 business days to get back to them, but we will answer their questions and provide them with the help that they need.

SCHEDULE:
Workouts start next week 11/30

We will be going from 2:45-3:45 Tue/Thur/Fri.  It is expected if you are not participating in a winter sport that you be there or communicate with coaches.  If you are participating in a winter sport, great!  Get your stick out and hit the wall on weekends, and let a coach know what sport you are in so we can come cheer you on.

Bring Cleats/Running shoes (we will be in the weight room at times and/or if the weather is bad go inside) Bring stick and gloves if you have them.

There will be no workouts over Christmas break but we will start up again in January.  First practice is Feb. 28th.

JOIN THE REMIND APP

Our most up to date information is texted out through the remind app, every player needs to be on this to get messages from the coaches.  Parents are encouraged to do so as well as we all know how well high school students relay information.

Text @97471LAX to 81010 to join

REGISTRATION

Make sure your physical is up to date and fill out your orange card, if you’ve signed up for another sport this year you’ve already done this. Since we are a club sport, it costs money to play.  $260 is the registration fee, this covers costs of helmet, practice equipment, jerseys, bus trips, referees among other things.  There are a lot of ways to reduce this cost.

Register before Dec 31st to receive a 10% discount.

Fundraising, raise enough in poster fundraising and have your entire registration fee waived!

https://everykidsports.org/ offers a $150 scholarship for high school students participating in sports.  Proof of participation in the current EBT card program is required.

If costs prohibit you from playing please talk with a coach we will help you figure that aspect out.

If you need help printing any of this information out ask Dever and he will print any forms you need.

Takes us all to make a successful program, show up to workouts, hit the wall and let’s have a great year.

11.17.21

Pre-Season Player Meeting Monday 11/22

Time to be thinking about our spring season! Coach Dever will be having a quick lacrosse meeting for current players , and those who are interested in playing, Monday 11/2 directly after school. It will be a quick one so boys won’t miss busses. Dever’s room is T-107 in the Votec building.

10.21.21

If you are looking for some fun indoor lacrosse to get ready for next season Awestruck has sign ups for youth through high school in Eugene.

Eugene Winter Indoor Boys High School Division is a great way to stay in shape when Oregon’s Climate doesn’t allow. This year Awestruck will be hosting indoor lacrosse at the Kick City Sports Complex in Springfield. Indoor lacrosse is a great way to become a better lacrosse player. With a smaller goal and limited space, this environment forces lacrosse players to have better stick skills. These skills transfer directly to the outdoor game, and will help players get to the next level. All sessions will combine skills and game play that’s directed by the Awestruck Staff.

**When players arrive they will go directly into a dynamic warm-up and get some stick work in. After that there will be (2) 22 min. halves and a four minute half time. All games will be officiated by a certified OHSLA official.**

10.17.21

We are excited to already be thinking about our 2022 season and Coach Dever is already getting games scheduled. We will be posting more information about registration soon.

A few things we would like families to be thinking about:

  • Our fees this year we be going back to full season fees. These fees pay for coaches, equipment and OHSLA fees.
  • We will be having a poster fundraiser that will be starting this fall. There will also be opportunities for early season registration discounts and fundraising discounts on fees. Remember! We are a non-profit so all donations are tax deductible.
  • School transportation could be EXTREMELY limited due to a bus driver shortage. We may need families to support our players by driving to and from games.
  • We will also be looking for volunteers for game set up/clean up.

7.6.21

Roseburg Lacrosse Family Day

6.28.21

Incoming freshman boys to adults can join Roseburg Lacrosse Club for shoot arounds on Tuesday nights starting July 6th. 7:00-8:30 pm on the RHS field. Sticks and helmets are available to borrow if you don’t have your own.

4.30.21

We have a new game scheduled with North Eugene. This will be on May 14th at N. Eugene. Due to Lane County being in Extreme risk we are unsure as to the full logistics of spectators. Most likely we will be unable to have spectators. If this is the case, we will work to live feed the game.

5.15.21 – This will be our final practice as winter sports will be starting. We will also, as a team, be supporting some youth lacrosse games and finish with a team event. More information will be coming soon.

News Review – We are excited to be featured in the News Review ! It’s awesome to see pictures of the boys as well as to hear from Coach Dever. We have a great group of players learning the game and look forward to future seasons. If you haven’t seen the article the link is here: https://www.nrtoday.com/sports/preps/prep_boys_lacrosse/young-roseburg-high-boys-lacrosse-team-learning-on-the-fly/article_12481d95-66a3-527b-9008-87ae74d5aa11.html

4.10.21

We are still looking for volunteers for home and away games. If you are interested you can email us at roseburglax@gmail.com or call one of the board members.

Game Schedule: There is a new game added for next week and a practice time change. Please refer to the schedule for all updates.

Game Attendance: You can view games at RHS! We have a 15% capacity so we are excited that we can have spectators at our games. Facemask must be worn and social distancing implemented.

Illness: If your player is not feeling well (not feeling like practicing doesn’t count) They should stay home. Players must communicate to Coach Dever if they will not be at practice for ANY reason. This can be done through Remind, a phone call or email.

Rides After Games: If a player will not be riding a bus home and are going home with a parent they must sign out with the coaches.

If your player is going home with another family a signed note stating who the student will be riding with and when must be given to the school office no less than 24 hours before the game. If a note has not been received by the school in that time duration your player will be riding the bus home.

Remind: If you have not signed up for Remind please do so for the most current updates. Our Facebook page will also be regularly updated.

OHSLA: Oregon High School Lacrosse Association is where you can find information about boys high school lacrosse in Oregon, schedules, standings and addresses of away games. https://www.ohsla.net/

US Lacrosse: US Lacrosse is a national lacrosse organization. There is a ton of information and links for lacrosse at all ages. https://www.uslacrosse.org/

4.4.21

High school boys will begin their practices on Monday, 4/5. Bring your cleats and lax equipment. If you have not yet brought your registration forms that can also be done this week. Remember! You must have a current US Lacrosse membership AND have an approved Orange Card with RHS before you can play.

Volunteers –

We need volunteers who will be willing to help set up before games, run the clock, keep books etc.. There will be a webinar (that is easy to follow) available soon. If you are interested please email us at roseburglax@gmail.com. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS ESPECIALLY FOR AWAY GAMES.

Practices –

Practice times are subject to change as we share the field with spring sports and girls lacrosse. Practices will often rotate from the 7:30-9 pm time to the 5:30-7:00 pm time. We will keep you as informed as possible.Games –

With our limited numbers coaches are working diligently to provide JV and Varsity opportunities to play. This year, with COVID guidelines at different schools we have to be very flexible in regards to game scheduling. All games are subject to change.

Players must be responsible for bringing snacks, water and any gear that they need to home and away games. We will often be getting in late. It is your players responsibility to be communicating with you when they will be arriving back at school.

Player/Parent Communication –

Communication is essential. If you have yet to sign up for Remind updates (you and your player) You can text @97471lax to 81010 to be added to updates.
